NATUROPATHY & HERBOLOGY TIPS:
TAKE A PROACTIVE APPROACH TO HEALTH & WELLBEING, BY ADAPTING TO THE SEASONS & ALIGNING THE MICROCOSM OF 'SELF' WITH THE MACROCOSM OF THE UNIVERSE.
There are 5 elemental phases taking place throughout the year, which are directly linked to the cycle of life.
THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR:
The message is clear: Align your Body, Mind, & Soul with the seasons - they are interwoven.
There is a cycle to the Universe & all within its realm - nature adapts to this cycle (we call it the seasons).
When we cease placing ourselves outside of the cycle, and begin including Self as a part of 'nature' by adapting to the seasons and what these provide, our Body receives the combination of fuel that enables us to perform better, our Mind embraces each moment fluidly, & our Soul opens to levels of higher guidance.
The rules are so simple: BALANCE
SPRING: the season of 91 days of revitalization: Heaven & Earth are reborn.
SUMMER: the season of 92 days of abundance: The Heavenly energy descends, & the earthly energy rises.
AUTUMN (FALL): the season of 92 days of reflection: A 'turning inward' & falling away of outer-directed energy.
WINTER: the season of 90 days of conservation: A 'nurturing' & embracing of inner-directed energy.

- The "Five Phases" for universal health are Wood (木 mù), Fire (火 huǒ), Earth (土 tǔ), Metal (金 jīn), and Water (水 shuǐ). This order of presentation is known as the "mutual generation" (xiāngshēng 相生) sequence.)
- These phases are energy patterns, presented to us through nature as the base seasons: (Spring - Wood / expansive); (Summer - Fire / culmination); (Late Summer - Earth / balance); (Autumn - Metal / contraction & accumulation); (Winter - Water / conservative)
THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR:
The message is clear: Align your Body, Mind, & Soul with the seasons - they are interwoven.

- Eat what is in season, eat in moderation, & eat what makes you feel good (afterwards). How do you want to feel after the meal? When you place the correct fuel into the body (for the season you are in at the present moment), you function properly.
- Sleep to recharge. Sleep each evening to the levels required for the body to retain energy throughout the day
- Exercise, at a level that maintains free-flowing tendons & muscles
- Pause often during the day; moments of recharge are required to ensure balance of energy is maintained (physically & emotionally)
- Seek self-knowledge, through making the effort to learn something new every day (new knowledge equates to growth). Be open-minded.
SPRING: the season of 91 days of revitalization: Heaven & Earth are reborn.
- Spring is aligned with the element of Wood: Growing, flourishing, rooted yet pushing upward
- The (New Yang Cycle) organs of Spring are the (Yin) Liver & (Yang) Gallbladder - detoxifying the blood, aiding in digestion, & smoothing the chi energy
- Do not start a new fad diet !!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Reduce toxic / acid forming foods
- Increase arugula, romaine & red leaf lettuce, artichokes, beets, carrots, mint, peas, strawberries, spring onions, radish, dates, bananas, rosemary, cilantro, sage, thyme, basil, parsley, chamomile
- Reduce red meat (protein) & increase white meat (protein) such as chicken & fish
- Retire early / Rise early
- Cultivate yang energy - Increase exercise while wearing loose-fitting clothing. (Especially stretching to loosen the tendons & muscles)
- Walk outdoors often
- Be open & unsuppressed, both physically & emotionally (Life Coaching practices available)
- Avoid anger, frustration, depression, & sadness - these can injure the liver chi.
SUMMER: the season of 92 days of abundance: The Heavenly energy descends, & the earthly energy rises.
- Summer is aligned with the elements of Fire in the early & mid portions (Dry, hot, dynamic & enthusiastic), & Earth in the later portion (Grounded, stable)
- The (Full Yang Cycle) organs of Early Summer are the (Yin) Heart & (Yang) Small Intestine - Pulsing with energy; & absorbing the nutrients from food into the bloodstream.
- The balance of (Yin-Yang) organs of Late Summer are the (Yin) Spleen & (Yang) Stomach - which ward off infections, maintain body fluid, and act as the storage rooms for nutrients & energy
- Do not start a new fad diet !!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Eat cooling foods / eat slowly
- Increase cucumber, tomato, squash, greens, beans, berries, sweet potato, okra, corn, melon, shallots, arugula, romaine & red leaf lettuce, mango, dates, papaya, watermelon, plumbs, guava, pineapple, apricots, basil, bay, chives, mint, dill, oregano, rosemary, tarragon, thyme
- Reduce red meat (protein) & increase white meat (protein) such as chicken & fish
- Retire later / Rise early
- Continue to cultivate yang energy - exercise in the early morning or late evening while wearing loose-fitting clothing. (Especially stretching to loosen the tendons & muscles)
- Walk outdoors often, swim in both clear & salty waters
- Be open & unsuppressed, both physically & emotionally (Life Coaching practices available)
- Release grudges, allowing energy to flow freely between internal and eternal.
- Avoid anger, frustration, depression, & sadness
AUTUMN (FALL): the season of 92 days of reflection: A 'turning inward' & falling away of outer-directed energy.
- This season is aligned with the element of Metal (Air)
- The (New-Yin) organs of Autumn are the (Yin) Lungs & (Yang) Large Intestine - Absorbing energy from cooler air; and absorbing water & salts from the material that has not been digested as food, before removing the waste products not absorbed.
- Nature teaches us to 'let go' of the abundance of Summer, and allow our natural elements to fall into line with the cosmic sequence of Life.
- This is the season to 'let go' of old ways of being (large intestine) & breathe in cooler 'fresh' new life (lungs)
- Increase rocket, mustard green lettuce, pak choy, collards, radish, spinach, rhubarb, sprouts, beets, apples, pears, kiwi fruit, plums, pomegranate, passionfruit, lemon, guava, cranberries, garlic, oregano, coriander, fennel, sage, thyme, parsley, rosemary, chicory, onions, peas, radish, shallots, pumpkin,turnip
- Increase white meat (protein) such as chicken, pork & fish
- Maintain a regular stretching program; walk outdoors - hike in nature where possible; bike ride on cooler sunny days
- Include down-time activities - calligraphy, drawing, poetry, coloring, painting, journaling, reading, soaking in the bath
- Show gratitude for the events that were enjoyed during Summer, and develop anticipation for the alternate-style of events that can be enjoyed during Autumn
- Come closer to Self, and allow the feelings that arise to do so - accepting the ebb & flow of energy transforming from outward to inward
WINTER: the season of 90 days of conservation: A 'nurturing' & embracing of inner-directed energy.
- This season is aligned with the element of Water
- The (Full-Yin) organs of Winter are the (Yin) kidneys & (Yang) Urinary Bladder - Absorbing energy from cooler air; and absorbing water & salts from the material that has not been digested as food, before removing the waste products not absorbed.
- Nature teaches us to 'embrace' the inner self, and allow our natural elements to adapt with this cosmic sequence of Life.
- This is the season to extract unbalancing energy: The (Kidneys) 'let go' of old ways of being, & the (Urinary Bladder) maintains a balanced reservoir of essential needs.
- Increase rocket, mustard green lettuce, pak choy, collards, radish, spinach, rhubarb, sprouts, beets, apples, pears, kiwi fruit, plums, pomegranate, passionfruit, grapefruit, lemon, guava, cranberries, dates, garlic, oregano, coriander, fennel, sage, thyme, parsley, rosemary, onions, peas, radish, shallots, pumpkin,turnip, brussel sprouts, carrots, parsnips, cabbage,
- Increase white meat (protein) such as chicken, pork & fish
- Maintain a regular in-door stretching program; walk outdoors - hike in nature on warm days where possible
- Increase additional down-time activities - calligraphy, drawing, poetry, coloring, painting, journaling, reading, soaking in the bath
- Show self-compassion as you adjust to the need for less outdoor activity; accept inner-love, & enjoy the cooler climate-style activities of winter
- Come even closer to Self, and allow the feelings that arise to do so - accepting the ebb & flow of energy transforming more from outward to inward
