Stepping Out of the Mind and Into Awareness
There are moments when the mind becomes so intensely active that it feels completely overwhelming. It is akin to a stomach that has consumed far too much food, or a muscle that has exerted so much energy that it becomes deeply fatigued. Yet, it is precisely during these moments of heavy mental exhaustion that a profound realization occurs: you begin to witness the separation between your mind and the part of you that is observing it. This experience isn't actually your mind becoming more aware. Instead, it is the moment your awareness recognizes the mind for what it truly is, an ego illusion-creator designed for self-survival. The mind doesn't want the absolute truth to be discovered. It relies entirely on the ego-self remaining ignorant of the fact that its narrative isn't real. Finding the Flicker of Truth However, the moment you choose to step away from the inner noise, the never-ending story being created by your thoughts, you experience a sudden flicker of truth. At that exact moment, the heaviness and overwhelm splinter into infinite shards of pure energy. It feels like the beginning of a Star Wars movie, right at the moment the light shatters through the darkness. Witnessing this ultimate truth feels both comforting and lonely at the same time:
Returning to the Trap Inevitably, humans tend to reach out in order to steady themselves during this void-like experience. To find comfort, we instinctively engage with the familiarity found within our everyday thoughts. And just like that, we return right back to the trap of the mind.
